Not 100% Sold on a "First Look"? Save it for the Aisle.
If you've spent more than five minutes on wedding Pinterest or Instagram, you've seen the "First Look." It’s that staged moment before the ceremony where the couple sees each other for the first time.
As photographers, we won't lie: First Looks are fantastic for the timeline. They let us knock out all the portraits before the ceremony, meaning you get to join your cocktail hour immediately.
But here is the absolute truth: If you are not 100% thrilled about doing a First Look, do not do it.
Your wedding day is about your genuine emotions, not checking boxes off a photography schedule. If you have always dreamed of that traditional, heart-stopping moment when the doors open and you lock eyes from down the aisle, protect that dream fiercely.
Things to consider if you skip the First Look:
The magic is real: There is a unique, unrepeatable electricity in the room when you see each other at the ceremony for the first time.
Timeline adjustments: We will just need to be highly organized during cocktail hour to get your family, wedding party, and couples portraits done. It is completely doable with a solid plan!
No forced reactions: Sometimes, First Looks can feel like a performance because you know the cameras are clicking. The aisle naturally strips away that pressure.
Don't let industry trends dictate your memories. If your heart says wait for the aisle, we will be right there to capture every tear.
